My name is Kathy McKenzie. I have been a model horse collector since very early childhood (I've got my Mother to blame for that). I have a degree in Art from the University of Northern Iowa and have always done horses, much to many professors' and teachers' dismay. I started doing my own model repaints years ago when I realized there was such a thing! I admired other peoples work , but could never afford it - but I knew I could do the very same thing for myself. So, I now offer you the option of a good, affordable, repainted horse also!

I also have a special page set up if you would like to know more about me.

I am doing most colors at this time - chestnut, cream, bay, roan, palomino, buckskin, dun, black, grulla, pintos/paints, Appaloosas, and grey.

Dappled, Appaloosa, Sabino, and Pinto horses will be more, from $30 (starting with the SM sized horses) and *up* extra, according to the size of the horse. Each added "topping" (think "Cold Stone Creamery") adds to the base price of your horse (a plain ice cream cone, with extra "mix-ins"). If you want something dappled AND with pinto markings, for example, there will be two extra fees for each of these options. Primitive markings, like leg barring and cobwebbing on grullas and duns, will also be a bit more than my base fees, similar to the fees for dappled/paint horses. Very very intricate and time consuming paint jobs do run quite a bit more then the simple base prices - paint jobs like Appaloosas, star dappled greys, and hair detailed dappled greys - just so you know. Also - resins with intricate stands, like rock walls for a jumper, will be a bit more for the jump, and those resins with more than one stand (like Mirage) will be slightly more for each extra stand over the usual "one."

Prices do not include the model, or return shipping and insurance. Please e-mail me to place an order. .

Special notice: all custom orders must be sent prepped and ready to paint, so I can save my hands for the task of painting. Getting "claw hands" after trying to prep even one plastic horse just got to be more than I could bear. I can pretty much take prepped horses at any time, and I can provide the a list of preppers. I have a very fast turn-around time when I do get the prepped horse for for paintwork. Most preppers are more than happy to take horses right from your supplier/caster and then, once prepped, ship them directly to me to save time and shipping expenses. Horses that need any additional prep-work done myself will incur an extra fee, or may need to turned away completely until prepping has been done to a higher level. Sending me an unprepped/incompletely prepped horse will slow things down significantly on this end of things! I DO appreciate your interest in my work VERY much, more than you may ever know, but I am not prepper, nor is this my area of expertise or interest.
